Twitter is an ever growing platform within education. The Department for Education, Ofsted, fellow Teachers, Authors, Publishers and many more organisations and companies all use Twitter to connect with each other.
Knowing who is out there to connect with is an important first step to ensuring your school, teachers, classes or departments are connected to the richest community. Above in the resource folder, you will find some guidance as well as details of schools, organisations, classes, departments and fellow teachers to connect with.
Many schools use Twitter to promote the great work being done in their schools. One of the 5 ‘Core’ elements is that your school has a Social Media Team with at least one member of the Senior Leadership Team within it.
This unifies the Social Media strategy and if your Social Media Team has representatives from all levels across your school, your Social Media use will reflect this. The best practice sees schools engage frequently on a multitude of levels. At the learning chalk face, class teachers, classes and departments systematically target tweets showcasing the learning they are responsible for, to specific individuals or organisations that add value to the learning in their school.
