First UK School Success – Coates Lane Primary

Watch this video submitted by the Headteacher, Deputy, Key Stage Leader, Parent & School Governor from Coates Lane Primary who this month were the first in the UK to be given the Social School Award.

This was the school’s video submission as part of their evidence gathering, reflections and analysis of impact on parental and community engagement.

We have added graphics and titles to the video to make it more useful within the blog post. The original video was simply ‘talking heads’ recorded on an iPad using a free app called Clips

“Before the summer holiday, we applied for an award called the Social School Award. After submitting a variety of evidence, we have been successful in being awarded the quality mark for the way we courageously & beneficially uses social media to connect, promote & engage with parents & other organisations. Not only this, but we are the first school in the country to receive the full award!

As a school, community is at the heart of what we do. We strive to ensure open communication; sharing our pupil’s learning experiences and encouraging collaboration with all stakeholders. The use of social media was a natural progression for us; in a  forward thinking, technological world,  sites such as Facebook and Twitter enable us to connect with an increased number of parents. The application process was straight-forward and clear and we were thrilled to have been awarded this.

It was a pleasure to meet John and David when they came to present the award; they were equally as thrilled as they are born and bred in Lancashire themselves. A very proud moment for our school!”
